cosmetic culture

Cosmetic Culture explores how social media and marketing shape self-perception, particularly within influencer and entertainment culture. The piece reflects on beauty standards that increasingly encourage exaggerated features and similar aesthetic ideals.

While the ability to change one’s appearance can be empowering, the growing popularity of the same procedures raises questions around individuality and conformity. Using lips as a recurring motif, the design reflects both the allure and the uniformity of contemporary beauty culture.

Constructed in ripstop nylon, the garment was designed and made by me. I also led the creative direction and styling for the editorial shoot which was selected for a month-long public display at SCAD Atlanta.

At its core, the piece celebrates the beauty of individuality.
